Anthony Redmond's Evaluation Report

Participants

Kayla Goth is a fellow student in my introduction to web development class. She is a 22 year old graphic design major. With her keen eye for detail and design she tested my web site. Kayla provided excellent feedback that allowed me to make modifications to the web site to correct issues that never occurred during my initial building of the web site. She evaluated the web site using Google Chrome, Windows 10 Pro, i7-6700, 32 gigabytes of RAM, and the ASUS 4K ProArt PA328Q Professional Monitor.

Reginald Carson is a stock broker, music producer, and artist manager. He is in the process of starting his own record label. Reginald didn't explain his feedback scoring on the evaluation form, so I followed up with him on his scoring of the web site. He provided valuable additional feedback during our conversation about the web site. He evaluated the web site utilizing a MacBook over the Wi-Fi network in his office. The MacBook used for evaluation was running macOS Sierra, and Reginald observed the website using the Safari web browser.

Taylour is a fellow student in my introduction to web development class. She is a 22 year old content creator, and has a very good eye for detail. She evaluated the web site using a MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The processor was an Intel Core i5 running at 2.7 GHz. Taylour observed the web site with Google Chrome over a cable modem connection.

Evaluation Data Summary

Each one of my participants that evaluated my site pointed out potential problems that I hadn't noticed. Below I have included links to each of my participant's evaluation data sheets. My participants pointed out problems with text formatting, the overall color scheme, credibility, photographs, and visibility.

Evaluation Summary Table

Average Scores from Evaluators
Category Average Score
Design 4.4

Credibility 4.6

Post Evaluation Modification

There will be several changes to the website based on some observations from the participants. Kayla pointed out that the font could be hard to read due to the fact that I blocked off the textual content. She also stated that a sans-serif typeface may sever a better purpose. I experimented with applying different fonts, and I have decided that she is correct. I will change the font and modify the aligning of my text. I will also change a few of the photographs on the web site, so that they match with the page content. This decision was based on her evaluation as well. Reginald's evaluation indicated that the color scheme of the website can be a problem for people who are viewing the text in a dark room. He indicated that all of the white space could cause eye fatigue. Taylour's evaluation pointed out an issue with credibility, so I will provide more information about myself. I will also discuss how I acquired the information that I placed on the website.

Reflection On Evaluation Process

I enjoyed utilizing the evaluation process during this assignment. I believe it is important to work with a strong team to accomplish goals. Utilizing evaluations by my peers allowed me to produce a higher quality product because I was able to gain an understanding of what my audience expectations for a web site. I have learned that it would be very advantageous to me in the future to always test out a new website, and evaluate the feedback. The feedback that will be provided is priceless because it will contain all of the information that users are expecting to see, and allows the developer to fulfill those needs by being flexible. Creating content for an audience is one thing, but allowing the users to help you create the content saves tons of time and frustration. I learned a very valuable lesson from this exercise, and that is it takes a village to build a site!
